本課程介紹人工智慧藝術方面跨領域的現狀和研究。主要的目的是能够深入了解人工智慧技術和藝術的特性，以及相互之間的關係，並探討適 用於人工智慧藝術創作的方法。本課程開放給工程和人文藝術背景的同學，並鼓勵跨領域的學生進行藝工合作的課程計畫。

Course keywords: Artificial intelligence, Art, Visual art, Creativity, Cognition, Perception, Psychology, Philosophy of art, Aesthetics, Computer-generated art, Computational creativity, Artistic creativity, Machine learning, DNN, CNN, GAN. 一、課程說明(Course description) The main objectives of this course are threefold: 1) Understanding of art. 2) Understanding of artificial intelligence. 3) Understanding of why and how to apply AI to arts. The lecture consists of two parts. The first part presents different aspects of art, including aesthetics, aesthetic evaluation, art & psychology, art & perception, art & cognition, and art & creativity. The second part presents AI art, aesthetic creativity and the 2nd thought of computer, AI, art and aesthetics, including recent researches of AI-generated art, AI techniques, deep neutral networks (DNNs), and computer-generated art. The lecture will also address some philosophical debates about AI-generated art, such as “Can machine create?” and “Is AI-generated art ‘ART’?” From the discussions, the attended students should understand the properties and characteristics of art as well as the AI technology, and thus develop proper methods by applying AI to art creation. 二、指定用書(Text Books) No required textbook Lecture note will be provided at the class. 三、參考書籍(References) References and reading assignments will be given at the class. 四、教學方式(Teaching Method) Lectures and discussion. 五、教學進度(Syllabus) 1) Introduction (1 week) 2) PART I: 2.1) Introduction to aesthetics (2 weeks) 2.2) Art and psychology/perception/cognition (2.5 weeks) 2.3) Art and creativity (1.5 weeks) 3) PART II: 3.1) Introduction to AI techniques (1 week) 3.2) Introduction to AI arts (1 week) 3.3) Artistic creativity using AI (1.5 weeks) 3.4) Generative arts (1.5 weeks) 3.5) Art creation using machine-learning (DL/NN) (3 weeks) 3.6) The 2nd thought of computer, AI, art and aesthetics (1 week) 六、成績考核(Evaluation) Term paper assignments: 40% Final project: 60%
